My name is Kaixin Xie (aka Dark pistachio).
I am a graphic designer who graduated from the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
As a humanistic designer, I believe that our behaviors always represent who we are; in other words, our
minds imply our behaviors.
Thus, My work is inspired by my cultural identity and my reflective and critical thinking about society. I
deeply understand that the fate of everyone in the world is interconnected. As Fannie Lou Hamer said, "nobody's free
until everybody's free."
I'm determined to use my design to make an impact on society. Feminism, social justice, and the
representation of minority cultures are themes that I explore and address in my projects. The seemingly
three different topics are actually three aspects of a larger topic - the humanistic development of society.
And this is what I want
my works to reside in as a humanistic designer.
